1. NAME

Enniskillen Photographic Society Constitution

The name of the society shall be the ‘ENNISKILLEN PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY’, hereafter referred to as ‘the society’

  1. OBJECTS OF THE SOCIETYThe objects of the society shall be the instruction, amusement and education in photographic work, as described below:
    1. (a)  To hold periodic meetings, the purpose of which shall be to facilitate the practice of the technique of photography by means of lectures and/ormutual discussion.
    2. (b)  To acquire facilities for the practice of the technique of photography by members of the society.
    3. (c)  To give demonstrations and lectures of general interest, which may be open to guests of members at the discretion of the committee.
    4. (d)  To hold periodical competitions with the object of treating in the competitive spirit and resultant improvement in technique.
    5. (e)  To organise photographic exhibitions.
  2. FUNDS
    1. (a)  The funds of the society will be applied solely to its stated objects.
    2. (b)  The members of the society will not receive payment either direct or indirect for their services, other than legitimate expenses incurred in itswork.
    3. (c)  No photographic work shall be carried out for financial gain using equipment or premises of the society.
  3. MEMBERSHIP
    1. (a)  Membership shall be open to all on payment of the subscription.
    2. (b)  All members are required to complete a membership form.
    3. (c)  A member may be expelled from the society by a two thirds majority at the General Meeting.
    4. (d)  Any person joining after the commencement of the last quarter of the financial year will automatically become a member for the followingfinancial year on payment of their subscription.
  4. MEETINGS
    1. (a)  An annual general meeting shall be held each May and all members notified by email at least 21 days before such a meeting, the quorum at such meetings shall be one quarter the total membership of the society.
    2. (b)  Extraordinary general meetings shall be called by the committee at their discretion or at the request of not less than ten members and all members notified by email at least seven days before such meetings, the quorum at such meetings shall be one quarter of the total membership of the society.
  5. OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE
    1. (a)  The officers shall be the Chairperson, Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer.
    2. (b)  The committee shall consist of Chairperson, Hon. Secretary, and Hon. Treasurer plus up to 8 ordinary members.
    3. (c)  A quorum of the committee shall consist of greater than half of the members and two officers.
    4. (d)  The committee shall be elected by members present at an annual general meeting from a list containing the names of those ordinary membersof the society who shall have been duly nominated by two members of the society to serve on the committee.
    5. (e)  The committee shall have the power to fill any vacancy or vacancies that may occur in their number during their term of office, and also have thepower to co-opt from the body of members a number not exceeding four to serve with them for any general or special purpose.
  6. SUBSCRIPTIONS
    1. (a)  The annual subscription shall be decided at the annual general meeting and become payable from 1st September following that meeting.
    2. (b)  A member failing to pay subscriptions before 31st October of the current year will cease to be a recognised member from this date, but may be

reinstated at any future date on payment of full arrears.

  1. ALTERATIONS TO CONSTITUTION
    1. (a)  The Constitution shall be reviewed annually to ensure it remains current and relevant.
    2. (b)  Alterations to the constitution shall be made at an annual or extraordinary general meeting.
    3. (c)  Notice of the proposed alterations shall be given to the committee at least fourteen days before such a meeting, and shall be given to allmembers at least seven days before such a meeting.
    4. (d)  The proposed alterations shall become effective on a majority vote.
  2. FINANCIAL YEAR

(a) The financial year shall be from 1st May – 30th April of the following year.
